Georgia Southern Opera

Georgia Southern Opera is a thriving performance ensemble that is open to all Georgia Southern University students. GSO’s mission is to provide ample stage opportunities for students of all levels of ability in order to develop their musical and dramatic skills. Each year, GSO produces as many as four main stage and scenes productions. Recent productions include Gianni Schicchi (in Italian), The Magic Flute, The Pirates of Penzance, Trouble in Tahiti, Cosi fan tutte (in Italian), and Suor Angelica.

“…a thriving performance ensemble…”

Our shows utilize the wide variety of performance venues available at Georgia Southern and in the Statesboro community including our recently renovated Carol A. Carter Recital Hall, the Performing Arts Center, and the historic Emmy Kelly Theater at the Averitt Center for the Arts. We have the great privilege of collaborating with the Georgia Southern Symphony for each of our productions that take place in the Performing Arts Center. In addition to stage performance, students are offered opportunities to direct and serve as stage manager if desired.
