Please fill out our online audition form HERE and select one of our audition dates. You will receive an email shortly after submission from Dr. Shannon Jeffreys.
Auditions occur in the Foy Music Building on the GSU campus room 4030 on the fourth floor. Building number 205 on this map link:
The audition day starts with a meeting for those auditioning and their parent (if they choose to come) at 9:00am in the Recital Hall which is on the ground floor through the glass doors of the Foy Music Building on campus. This meeting will allow prospective students and parents to ask any questions about majoring or minoring in music or about our choral and opera programs. A specific audition time will be assigned to you upon your arrival between 10:00 and 1:00pm.
Following this meeting, auditions will begin in the choral/opera room. The student will sing their two audition selections, have a short interview with the voice/choral faculty and a short sight singing evaluation. Then the student will take the music diagnostic evaluation immediately following their audition. Information concerning this portion can be found HERE. This diagnostic DOES NOT AFFECT acceptance into the program, it is simply a skills assessment for placement in the appropriate theory class.
Students and parents will also have the opportunity to take a short campus tour with one of our music majors.
